Saint George's has hired a new Director of Music Ministry! We are very excited for Dr. Brian Taylor to begin his ministry here in March 2019.
Brian Taylor has been an active church musician for over forty years, having served Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational, Lutheran, Episcopal and Catholic congregations in Michigan, New Jersey, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia. He holds the Bachelor of Music degree from Westminster Choir College, the Master of Divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, the Master of Music and Master of Sacred Music degrees from Southern Methodist University and the Doctor of Sacred Music degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation where he serves as a part-time professor of sacred music. He holds the Associate certificate of the American Guild of Organists. Dr. Taylor has been serving as Interim Organist-Choirmaster of Lutheran Church of the Ascension in Savannah, Georgia since 2016. In 2015 he served as Interim Organist-Choirmaster for All Saints Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia where he conducted the historic Choir of Men and Boys. His longest tenure was at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Savannah, Georgia, where he founded the Boys and Girls Choirs. These two ensembles, along with the parish adult choir, produced three compact disc recordings and made three trips to Britain for week-long summer cathedral residencies. Dr. Taylor is the father of two daughters, Amelia and Laura, of whom he is very proud.
